2.	January 04	World Braille Day	To recognize efforts of Luis Braille who invented the Braille language which helps blind people to read and write.
3.	January 06	World War Orphans Day	The Day is observed every year to raise awareness about children who have been orphaned due to wars.
4.	January 09	Pravasi Bhartiya Divas (NRI Day)	The day commemorates the return of Mahatma Gandhi from South Africa in Bombay on 9 January 1915.
5.	January 10	World Hindi Day	To promote the use of Hindi language abroad and to mark the anniversary of first World Hindi Conference which was held in 1975.
6.	January 12	National Youth Day	To commemorate the birthday of great spiritual leader, Swami Vivekananda.
7.	January 15	Indian Army Day	In recognition of Lieutenant General K. M. Cariappa becoming the first Indian Commander-in-Chief in 1948.
8.	January 23	Desh Prem Divas	To celebrate the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
9.	January 24	National Girl Child Day	To create awareness among people about the inequalities faced by the girl child in the society.
10.	January 25	National Voters Day	To increase participation of citizens of the country in the political process.
		National Tourism Day	To raise awareness about the importance of tourism for the Indian economy.
11.	January 26	International Customs Day	To commemorate the very first official conference of the Customs Co-operation Council i.e. World Customs Organization.
		India’s Republic Day	On this day, the Constitution of India came into force and replaced the existing Government of India Act,1935.
12.	January 30	World Leprosy Eradication Day (Last Sunday of January)	To increase awareness among people regarding Leprosy or Hansen’s Disease.
		Martyr’s Day/ Mahatma Gandhi Death Anniversary	To honour those who lost their lives defending the sovereignty of the nation.
